The Education Station
Call me nosey, but I love looking at other peoples school areas. Little ones, big ones, kitchens, basements, hallways, it doesn't matter to me I still like looking.
I feel very lucky to have a dedicated school space, but I would carve out a spot just about anywhere if I had to. I have moved it around the house a few times, but I think I am set now. You never realize how much stuff you have until you move it 3 or 4 times. :) The couple that built our house put a room in the back for her beauty shop. {giggle} That sounds so funny, but that's what they called it then. It has a 1/2 bathroom and laundry hall separating it from the kitchen. It is the perfect spot for our school area. Come in and take a look around.

I should add pictures of the entire house since we learn everywhere. They do their bookwork at their desks but we do other things everywhere, inside and out. Nothing better than practicing math facts in the swimming pool or sitting out front on the bench reading. Yes we have a designated space but we are not confined to this space. Adding and subtracting bowling pins in the familyroom or playroom of the basement is totally acceptable too.
This is our little corner of nowhere. Literally :) I just thought of something. Our chickens are getting ready to start laying eggs so I can add the chicken coop to our list of education stations.
Well if you are as curious as I am to look at everyone else's education stations, click on the links below and hop around to see what others are sharing.

Lots and lots of light! It looks like a cheerful place to work. :)
ReplyDeleteWith 3 windows and a door we do get lots of light, which I love. We were in the basement at one point and felt too isolated. We like it up here way better.
DeleteWow! How lucky you are to have such a great big space for schooling :) I get to school in the dining room, which works out okay. We turned the coat closet into a school closet! :) We don't really need coats, right? lol Here's a link to my post last year about our school space: http://www.littlelearninglovies.com/wordpress/2011/10/17/how-to-school-without-a-school-room/ Thanks so much for showing us your work space! And I completely agree that the chicken coop is certainly a learning space!
ReplyDeleteCoats are our nemesis too. We do not have a coat closet. Previous owners took it out to add more garage space...grrr! Our coats hang behind the door in the schoolroom.
DeleteGreat space, and such a good size room!! I too love looking at other homeschooler's work spaces!
ReplyDeleteMe too this is my favorite day for hopping.
DeleteI love your workboxes! Wish I had room for something like that.
ReplyDeleteThey make my life so much easier.
DeleteWhat a neat idea for a timeline!
ReplyDeleteI wanted something that Luke could take down and "notebook' on and hang back up. That is what we ended up with. Now it's time to get busy on it.
DeleteLovely room! And I love how colorful your work boxes are. I'm really enjoying this day of the hop. Love looking at the rooms and this was my favorite post to write too.
ReplyDeleteThey do add some pizzaz to the room. They make it cheerful in here. Okay I replied to all comments to this point and I am off to snoop at all of your spaces. :)
