Out with the Old (1960's blue)

Saturday's are cleaning day here. Dusting and vacuuming types of things, but NOT usually dusting behind the wallboard. Yes I did say BEHIND the wallboard.  Ahhhh!

Our bathroom is straight out of the 1960's with the addition at some point of the flowery fake tile wallboard. When we bought our house 2 1/2 years ago, this bathroom was on our priority to do list. Well, things happened and we are just now getting to it. Better late than never.

I will not have a blue bathtub, toilet, and sink for much longer. I have nothing against blue, but I don't think I own anything blue (decor wise). I am am a fall color kind of girl.

Now comes the hard work. Heating up all of the liquid nails that they used under the wallboard and scraping, patching and sanding. Come on paint.

I also have to chip down all of the ceramic tiles, but I am going to put wainscoting there so that will not be nearly as labor intensive. Good thinkin' huh!

For the tub area we are going to put in a new tub and then I will tile those walls. I am going to tile the backsplash area and the floor also (I think).

We have a handmade vanity that is 72 inches long and 24 inches deep that I am going to strip and repaint and then add new hardware. Have you priced 72 inch vanities? Yowser!!! I am not paying that kind of money to brush my teeth in.

Now you know what my big plans are and what I will be spending the next who- knows- how- long doing. I can't wait to post some progress pictures. Don't hold your breath. It may take a while.

  1. Oh wow! How exciting. I can't wait to see how it looks when you finish. We moved into our house 9 years ago and still haven't redone our bathroom. *sigh*
