Jill Kelly is the wife of Buffalo Bills former quarterback, Jim Kelly. Their son, Hunter, was called home to be with God after fighting a rare genetic disorder. This book is not only about that experience, but many of her life lessons are written within these pages.
Etched... was actually written for her daughters "so that you will always remember and never forget God's outrageous grace in the midst of your moments."
Her personal stories fill this 224 page, jacketed hardcover book, divided into 8 chapters covering: love, significance, forgiveness, suffering, giving, praying, faithfulness, and death. In each chapter she shares personal stories and relates them to biblical truths. At the end of each chapter there are sections on What to remember and never forget..., a Prayer, and Truths about (relates to the chapter) to Etch Upon Your Heart.
I am amazed at the intimacy of the personal memories that she puts into this book. No real fancy words come to my mind, just WOW! I am wowed by so many aspects of her story. Her transparency, realness, and wide-open vulnerability forced me to review so many memories of my past that I am not so sure I could share with the world as she has.
The one thing that was overwhelmingly apparent after reading this was - no matter the depth of joy or pain that Jill Kelly wrote about, God and Grace shined through it ALL. The song Jesus in Disguise comes to my mind. He is in everything!
